Evolution in Biodanza: A flight from the heart

We have special guest facilitator Gustav, joining us for this weeks class. Gustav is a Certified Biodanza facilitator and trainer and didactic teacher from Uruguay. His teaching specialisations are: ‘Biodanza and the Four Elements’, ‘The Minotaur Project’, ‘Biodanza and I Ching’, ‘Biodanza and Neoshamanism’, ‘The Tree of Desires’, ‘Identity and the Four Elements’, ‘Identity, deep femininity and masculinity’.

The empathy that Gustavo brings to the groups, together with his warmth and calmness dances along the participants. You can read more about Gustavo below.

There are no steps to learn; there are simple instructions aiming to subtly expand our vocabulary movement and enrich our ‘vivencias’ (the livelihood, the experience at a particular moment, in a certain place and in a certain context).

Dancing and moving, we re-learn to relate to ourselves and to others; we free ourselves to feel the joy and the love that reside within each of us from the beginning.

In Biodanza, we change, we evolve. We dance and fly from the heart.

Gustavo is passionate about Biodanza and Rolando Toro’s legacy.

Growing up wanting to be a vet, he soon realised that his strong inclination for social matters wouldn’t be fulfilled on that path although he still loves animals.

After a double degree in Sociology and Social work, Gustavo developed a special interest in social interventions of the arts. Both his Masters degree (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) and his PhD (Montevideo, Uruguay) integrated art and social science research.

Following his research, Gustavo worked in Playback Theatre (Theatre of the Oppressed) and in Psychodrama, where he developed an extensive international experience with a broad spectrum of groups, such as: refugees, immigrants, students and elderlies among others.

While exploring the addition of dancing, he realised the impact of the synergy between movement, dancing and music. This led him to dive deep into the work of Rolando Toro.
